Design
In my time as a designer, I've made countless spreads, developing my skills over time. My portfolio chronologically showcases the progress I’ve made and the creativity I’ve developed over time.

This was the second spread I ever designed, and I got my inspiration from a yearbook cover (shown below) that was lying around the journalism classroom. All of the people on my "path" were interviewed in the stories. This spread was especially challenging for me because I also wrote most of it.

2022: A Year
in Review

50 years of Title IX
I made this design in my first year on staff as well! This was one of my first attempts at photo illustrations/collages, and I was really proud of the way it turned out.

House to House Holidays
I made this design in my second year (11th grade). This was one of the first times I experimented with more outside-the-box infographics (like that car), and it was one of the first story packages I ever designed.

Top 5 albums of 2023
After making such a strong piece to end 2022, I was determined to do the same for 2023 - and I was really proud of this one. I love the way I layered cutouts (something that I would begin to do more following this cycle).

A story of resilience
This spread was really important to me, and I remember having no idea what to do with it on our deadline night. We got the pictures last minute, and it just didn't look right with the typical black background, especially considering how dark the photos were. On a whim, I changed the background of the whole spread to black, and everything clicked.

2024: A year in review
This harkens back to the first spread shown. I wanted to recap 2024 and all the events that happened especially pop culture. I started out with a timeline similar to the 2022 review, but it felt like I was just trying to copy myself too much. So I took a different direction. This year, collaging came back into a lot of mainstream styles, so I made a collage for the background of all of the biggest celebrities, movies, albums, and clothing items of 2024 (that we got using a poll of our student body).

Unbreakable
This was my most recent spread, and it was a bit of a challenge for me. My writer found an incredible story and wrote a lot more words than I was expecting for the spread. This meant that my design had to be subtler, so I incorporated the black-red-white motif into as many areas of the design as I could, without taking up unneeded space.
